The Stanford Research Park Transportation team can help you connect with others interested in carpooling.

Carpool Overview

Carpooling can be a convenient alternative to driving alone. Besides convenience, other benefits can include:

  • Less driving means less wear/tear and maintenance costs on your own vehicle

  • Reduced emissions, air pollution and traffic congestion in our communities

  • Meeting new people and a more enjoyable commute

Carpool-matching with the Scoop Commute app

Scoop Commute

Download the Scoop Commute mobile app and create an account with your work email address to get started matching with others who work in the Research Park. Enter promo code SRP02 to receive 2 free carpool credits in-app. 
Drivers using the Scoop Commute app will receive in-app "cost of driving" reimbursements from carpool riders; while riders will receive on-going trip discounts, courtesy of Stanford Research Park.
New Year 2026 promotion: Between now and February 28, 2026, riders can enjoy $5 off carpool trips taken with the app. After February 28, the discount will return to $2 off all carpool trips taken.

Rewards & Support for Carpoolers

Earn rewards when you participate in SRP Commuter Rewards! At SRPGO.com, select either "Register" or "Login here." Once logged in, simply select the days you carpool on the trip calendar, and you'll earn points for gift cards or charitable donations - your choice!

VTA Guaranteed Ride Home program

Carpoolers are also eligible for the VTA Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program, which can provide a reimbursed ride (e.g., taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.) in the event of an unexpected workday emergency or circumstance. Register for the VTA GRH program now so you'll be ready if you should ever need it.

I think the flexibility is what’s so great about carpooling. The other benefit that I’ve found is that I get to talk to people in my car and I’ve gotten to know a couple of people, which has been very eye-opening and interesting.
